Taxonomy According to Boyko (1994:28), a syntype specimen of Lecane kluchor Tarnogradsky has been deposited in New York ("AMNH 895; Locality: Kluchor Pass, North Caucausus, Russia. Collector: Unknown, Oct. 5, 1930"). The locality data on the slide label are, however, different (collection studied by C.D. Jersabek, Oct. 2001): "Schluchsee, Sphagnum in Graben bei Feldmoos". Most likely, these specimens were collected by J. Hauer, and do not belong to Tarnogradsky's Russian type material from Kluchor Pass, North Caucasus, collected in the summers of 1925 & 1927; Tarnogradsky (1930:113). It probably belongs to specimen material based on which J. Hauer established the synonym name Lecane diadema from Schluchsee. Locality and collection dates agree with those given by Hauer (1931:8).
